Earl Grey Shortbread Cookies

It’s that time of year for trees indoors, cold air, coats, fireplaces, boots, cookies. That’s right. It’s Christmas time. And this is the story of my first batch of Christmas cookies.

Every morning my mom drinks Earl Grey tea. As long as I can remember you can find her in the morning with a teacup in her hand. A splodge of milk. A little sugar. That’s how she takes her tea. So when I found this recipe I had to make it. Butter. Sugar. Orange zest. Earl Grey tea. What’s not to love?

I made two batches. The first I forgot to grind the tea leaves. That was interesting. The second time I got it right. Yay!

These cookies go beautifully with tea, coffee or good old-fashioned milk.

It smelled so good!

Ready to mix.

My mom made the ‘For Santa’ plate.
